“Manitobans should get ready to pay more for natural gas once the federal carbon tax kicks in April 1.

The average consumer is expected to pay an extra $88 a year for 2019, according to Manitoba Hydro.

That is about a 13 per cent increase. Bigger consumers of natural gas can expect a 15 to 30 per cent increase annually.

The federal carbon tax puts a price of $20 on each tonne of greenhouse gas created by burning fossil fuels. It will increase $10-a-year until it reaches $50 in 2022.”
